1950S PATCHWORK DENIM SWING COAT
1950s patchwork denim swing coat. Assembled completely out of reclaimed denim. This is a very heavy coat. White accent stitching. Patchwork denim lining. Pattern matched pockets. Lots and lots of hand sewing was involved in the making of this coat. Rolled cuffs. Pattern matched three button front. Most of the denim for this project came from my grandmothers house. After she passed away I decided to take all of her denim before her clothing was donated. I made this in memory of her. This is a very heavy weight coat. Perfect for those extremely cold days. The coat has some incredible movement. Visually I wasn’t sure how the panels would lineup. I made the panels shifted on a diagonal. I was pleasantly surprised on how well the pattern lined up. I love how it all flows together. This is one of the most tedious couture pieces that I have made. The process spanned an entire year.
